Arlington Million Gala
Event:Arlington Million Charity Gala, August 7, 2009, to benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund
Event Summary:
In August 2009, MD&A was a part of the creative team brought together to produce the Arlington Million Charity Gala to benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund – 2009 Beneficiary. The event took place at The Sanfilippo Estate’s ‘Place de la Musique’, known worldwide for its collections of beautifully restored antiques, a magnificent European salon carousel, and the world’s largest restored theatre pipe organ. Working with this very visual backdrop, MD&A produced the evening’s entertainment, bringing the setting to life. Upon arrival, guests were welcomed by jugglers who created an arch of juggling pins into the cocktail reception, as dancers in costumes mirroring the Vargas Girl posters in the venue posed with attendees in front of the carousel and an amazing close-up magician dazzled guests. After dinner, the dancers returned in antique circus costumes, to perform two dance numbers to the music of the antique calliope, followed by a cabaret singer who engaged the crowd with popular songs. The evening’s presentation ended with the dancers performing a grand finale number and guests taking a last ride on the antique carousel. Both the client as well as the guests enjoyed a truly memorable experience.
Services:
McGowan Durpetti & Associates was employed to coordinate all of the evening’s entertainment features. It was a great opportunity for MD&A to display their creativity in producing events, in which they devised the jugglers to create a juggling arch entry way, the real-life Vargas girls to animate the scene, conceptualizing the entertainment program, and incorporating the magicians to make for an interactive component.
